An elegant silvered-bronze centrepiece by Christofle, Paris, crafted in the Rococo Revival style. The oval-shaped body with fluted sides and ornate, scrolling rim, raised on four acanthus-scroll feet. The twin handles are shaped as naturalistic scrolls with leaf terminals. Both sides are adorned with finely cast laurel and oak branches in relief, framing a central shield-shaped cartouche. The cartouche on the front is engraved with an armorial motif, featuring military standards, laurel wreath, and a banner inscribed "Cercle National des Armées de Terre et de Mer" (The National Circle of the Armies of Land and Sea), referencing the organization in Paris set up to act as a hotel and social meeting place for members and veterans of the French Armed Forces.This piece exemplifies the high-quality silvered bronze work produced by Christofle, known for supplying luxury tableware and decorative objects to the French elite, including royal and imperial households.Please make all inquiries before bidding.All lots are sold "as-is", refer to our T&C.Helios Auctions does not ship in-house.
