<B>Barry Goldwater: A Rare "Kennedy For King" Variant.</B></I> Goldwater supporters were highly organized and had started working toward his 1964 nomination almost as soon as the dust had cleared from the 1960 campaign. Several button varieties, obviously dating from before JFK's assassination, poked fun at the "aristocratic" Kennedys with this slogan. With gold background, the present variety strikes us as highly unusual. Style of manufacture suggests that this may well have been made by the same company that issued several other gold-background designs in this period. For accuracy, we note a small rim nick at 5:00 and a little very minor light water staining, neither of which detracts significantly.
