Pre-Columbian, from the West Coast of Mexico, Colima, ca. 200 BC/AD. Finely carved stone mace head in the form of two dog heads, each with deeply-incised features showing remarkable similarity to the wrinkled pottery figures from the same region. With deep grooves on each side where attached to a wooden haft. 3-3/8"L x 3"H x 1-5/8"D. Intact and excellent with nice surface deposits.

Provenance: Ex-private B. Saldano Collection, NJ acquired in the early 1970s.
