A RARE division one pictorial fabric button
1 Large 18th century embroidered fabric male figure button. We have once again been entrusted to bring you two more of these exquisite and rare fabric pictorial buttons from the consignor as they were pleased that the button collectors appreciated the ones sold from the set in our November 2024 auction. These two constitute the only further examples they will be selling in our auction so if you want to acquire one of these rare examples now is your opportunity. This incredible button from the 18th century was all hand made and the craftsmanship and detail is stunning. To find a button or buttons like this in this outstanding condition in this material is also incredible. This button has not been seen for sale since the 1940's and came from a set owned by the late Eugenie Lydecker who was a President of the New Jersey Button Society in the 1950's.Her collection was sold in 1980 at auction but this was not in the auction as it came to us from the granddaughter of Mrs. Kenneth Lydecker. If you want to own a pierce of history and fine craftsmanship of the late 18th century, this is an opportunity to do so, We cannot stress enough the rarity and fine condition of this example. Attached to this description is an image in the September 1952 National Button Bulletin showing the entire set of these buttons belonging to the Lydecker collection.
