Seldom encountered, Polish or Hungarian work of classic form, the steel mounts comprising an oval pommel cap, extending halfway down the grip, with profiled edges, and symmetrical guard with long quillons and langets, with corded wooden grip covered in black leather. The long, robust, finely forged and single-edged blade with complex fullering and back edge, etched at the forte with a stand of arms and a mounted hussar brandishing a scimitar, between baroque panels. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with pierced and profiled iron mounts underlaid with contrasting brass plates. First half of the 18th century. Light wear overall, grip leather rubbed. Overall length 95 cm.
