A RARE COMPLETE EARLY 19TH-CENTURY HERCULANEUM "ITALIAN FOUNTAIN" PATTERN BLUE TRANSFER-PRINTED POTTERY SUPPER SET, comprising a central lidded four-egg cruet (no egg cups) of oval form on foot, surrounded by four shaped lidded dishes to form an oval, each piece decorated with figures, one with sword, a female mandolin player, a seated figure reading, beside a fountain outside an italinate mansion, some pieces impressed "C", on a mahogany oval two-handled galleried tray, 58cm, (28.8in) across handles (one dish and cover restored; another dish cracked and reglued) *** Although not explicitly marked, matching examples are known with impressed mark "HERCULANEUM" and date 1809, in the City of Liverpool Museum.
