Made by Toledo craftsmen, and based closely upon the sword of the last Muslim ruler of Granada, Muhammad XII, known as Boabdil (1460-1533.) The grips of polished horn, the mounts elaborately engraved, enameled and gilded. The long, straight, double-edged blade wrought with a central fuller for its entire length, inscribed and gilded with the motto of the Moorish kings of Granada and vinework, and elaborately chiseled at the forte with geometrical cartouches and TOLEDO. In its leather scabbard with finely engraved, gilded and enameled mounts decorated en suite with the hilt. C. 1920. Light wear, staining to blade. Overall length 108.5 cm.
