A RARE AND FINE DIVISION ONE UNDER GLASS BUTTON
1 Large 18th century carved natural material under glass example. Dieppe carvings are attributed the Dieppe region of France where this style of carving on natural material was developed. The depiction of Diana and the hound is incredibly detailed and is set over a brown fabric background and placed under glass. Often these backgrounds have faded over time but this example is in excellent unfaded condition. Set with a copper rim and tin back typical of the 18th century. This fine and scarce example is not one to pass up. The depiction and fine detail the artist was able to attain in this carving is truly remarkable and more outstanding than any photograph can obtain. The buyer of this button will most assuredly cherish it forever.
