<B>(Abraham Lincoln) A Piece of the Towel Used to Dress Abraham Lincoln's Wounds the Night of his Assassination, April 14, 1865.</B></I> Offered here is a 1.25" x 1.5" piece of cloth, housed in a gutta-percha daguerreotype case bearing a printed label: "A piece of the towel used in dressing the wound of President Abraham Lincoln at the time of his assassination on April 14, 1865. " Accompanied by a signed April 24, 1967 letter by Lincoln National Life Foundation Director R. Gerald McMurtry attesting to the authenticity of this relic. Also included is photocopy of a 1957 letter of one Merrill Bemesderfer of Lebanon, Pennsylvania who notes receiving the piece from a Pennsylvania auctioneer. The towel was found by the auctioneer in an envelope addressed to George F. Miller of Shufferstown, Pennsylvania.
