<B>A Pair of Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze Chenets</B></I><BR><BR>After a model by Quentin-Claude Pitoin (circa 1725-1777), Paris, France<BR>Early Nineteenth Century<BR>Gilt bronze<BR>Unmarked<BR>13.25 in. high x 19 in. wide x 11 in. deep<BR><BR>Each on a naturalistic base, cast with C-scrolls and scrolling foliage, one with a boar, the other with a stag.<BR><BR>Inspired by the original models by Quentin-Claude Pitoin who supplied bronzes d'ameublement to the Court from 1763 until his death, examples were supplied in 1772 to the salon of Madame du Barry at Fontainebleau and are now in the Musee du Louvre. Louis XVI had another pair of this model in his library at Versailles which subsequently were moved to the Palais de Luxembourg. (See P.
