TWO PLAINS CARVED EFFIGY SPOONS<B><BR><BR>c. 1860 and 1890<BR></B></I> <BR>each in the form of a turtle, the first, Oto, carved of Mountain Sheep horn, with oval bowl tapering upwards to a stylized head; the second, carved of cow horn, with two small circular eyes, it’s neck wrapped with hide, decorated with dyed porcupine quills, terminating in metal cones inserted with khaki green cloth, it’s tail pierced through for attachment of a hide thong, similarly decorated, with pencil inscription on the interior, <I>From Good Halirred, Woman. To Sister</B></I><BR><BR>Provenance:<BR>The first, collected from John Dunham of the Oto Agency, Red Rock, OK. <BR><BR><I>Lengths: 7 ¾ and 6 ¾ inches<BR></B></I> <B>Condition Report:</B> Overall very good with usual wear and light soiling. Horn with light surface abrasions and approx. 16 scratches. Approx. 2 chips to the rim.
