A PAIR OF WHITE METAL BURMESE 'DAH HMYAUNG' DAGGERS, 19 C.
This pair of 'dah hmyaung' daggers is highly decorative with interesting, patterned steel for the blades, which have been damascened with silver scrolling, one of the blades having a depiction of a Burmese tiger near its base. The scabbard and hilt of each dagger are decorated with elaborate chasing and repoussé throughout and are of an irregular conical shape. Both handles are adorned with spherical pommels bearing floral motifs.
One of the scabbards is adorned with a gemstone at its tip which has been partially obscured by an old sticker that is only partially legible. The words still visible are in order 'Sultan of', 'Roasgrin', and 'NBC'.

L: 15 in. (38.1 cm.);

The silver inlay on the blades is well preserved. Both blades have minor scratches on the cutting edges, probably due to use. The silver mounts are in good condition with a few very minor dents.
