<B>A PAIR OF PLAINS QUILLED AND BEADED HIDE CARD CASES<BR></B></I><BR>c. 1890<BR> <BR>a dissimilar pair, each decorated on the front with natural and dyed porcupine quillwork, one with a beaded cross on the reverse<BR><I><BR>Lengths: 8 ¼ inches; 9 inches<BR></B></I><BR> <B>Condition Report:</B> In overall good condition. Hide with moderate use, including some moderate soiling. Green-beaded case: Back fringe near bottom has some tan spotting. Porcupine quilling bright with some scuffing and losses, including approx. 7/8” and 3/4." Beadwork extant. Enclosed sepia-printed “Faith” card in very good condition. No apparent restoration. Blue-beaded case: hide with obvious rust-brown staining, including an approx. 5/8” x 5/8” soil near top corner, and approx. three other stains on front. Back has an soiled area of approx. 7/8” x 1/4" near triangular top and an approx. 1-1/4” x 1” area of fringe. Loss of one fringe near top. Beadwork extant and bright. Porcupine quilling with fading and scuffing. Enclosed sepia-printed “The Christian Graces” card enclosed, printed on both sides, with some brown spotting.
