<B>A PAIR OF MANDAN/HIDATSA QUILLED AND BEADED HIDE MOCCASINS<BR></B></I><BR>c. 1880<BR> <BR>sinew sewn, each decorated on the vamp and around the ankle with predominantly natural and red-dyed porcupine quillwork, and a band of geometric motifs in blue, yellow and white beads encircling the foot, buffalo hide tongues, rawhide soles<BR><BR>Provenance:<BR>Dennis Darington, Watertown, SD<BR><I><BR>Length: 10 inches</B></I> <B>Condition Report:</B> Overall very good condition. Hide with usual wear and soiling. Quillwork intact and brightly colored. Beadwork intact. Rawhide soles cracked with largest tear of approximately 1". Stitching of soles to uppers undone in approximately 3 areas, largest, 1" long. Ribbon binding of top edges around ankle faded and frayed with large areas of loss.
