A PAIR OF LOUIS XVI STYLE WALNUT AND UPHOLSTERED FAUTIEULS, 19th century. (2) Estimate: $1,000-1,500 Client No: 124975 Stock No: 308028/9 Provenance: (Tayloe-Lomax Family, Octagon) These two Louis XVI style chairs were in the Tayloe-Lomax family from the time of the American Revolutionary War. They were a part of a larger set at the Octagon House during the 1812 War period when the French Minister lived there, followed by President and Mrs. Madison. They were part of a set that most probably served when President Madison signed the Peace Treaty with England, at the end of the War in 1814, in the upstairs front room of the Octagon.
