Attributed to Peter K. Thomas (1838-1907) Soap Hollow, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, dated "1863"
The scrolled back board painted dark green and stenciled with floral devices and the initials "A" and "M" in gold and copper, the chest grain-painted in ochre and yellow with dark green-painted moldings and recessed side panels, the six drawers edged in yellow and stenciled with scrolled and geometric devices and flanked by stenciled trailing roses on posts, each recessed side panel stenciled with flowers in vase in gold and copper, all raised on green-painted turned feet, original pressed glass pulls. A faint inscription at side in pencil: "Mary Miller." Old mended break to backboard scroll.

PROVENANCE:
