This Whale bone teacher's pointer was owned by Mary E. Nottingham, a Negro public school teacher who was born in Swansea, Ma @ 1902. Her father was Stanley Nottingham, from Virginia, a butler for Frank Shaw Stevens. Ms. Nottingham lived on the property in a separate house on the estate now known as the Frank S. Stevens Home for Boys on Main Road in Swansea. My father, born in 1925 lived in the neighboring town Somerset, Ma., and eventually would become the grounds keeper and maintenance supervisor of the Stevens Home for Boys. He was gifted this pointer from Ms. Nottingham and later it was given to me by my father. - All items may be shipped or picked up locally within one week of sale.
