Mostly typed on Mickey Spillane Productions letterhead and signed by him in green fountain pen ink; including (in chronological order): 1) not dated but around October 10, 1955, reading in part "...what a / great job you did on the Lucy show. / ...When you were getting the rubdown, Kathy said, 'I bet Pilar doesn't know she's doing that / to him.' Great thinking...she's only six;" 2) sent to JW in Hollywood, CA, dated "March 3, 1956," reading in part "I just thought a little note of encourage- / ment at this time might come in handy;" 3) dated "11/15/61," reading in part "I sent you a copy of The Beep, my new book, and it's / doing fine. / Break loose from L.A. and join / me. Golden Host Motel and you can escape the pre-parental nonsense / that goes with being trapped in your own house during late / pregnancies;" 4) a file copy of Wayne's response to Spillane's letter, dated "November 21, 1961," reading in part "How much I would love to join you at the Golden / Host Motel.../I have to keep my nose to the grindstone!;" 5) dated "November 24, '61," reading in part "So, thinking of Batjac and its Cessna, I'm / dropping off a folder on what a dreamboat looks like. / In fact, after flying it again, I'm buying one;" 6) not dated, reading in part "You and Bob [Fellows] are the only guys I'll do / business with in L.A.... / I got a whack on the ear (cut my lobe, by heck!) and / such is the news from Newburgh.
