A Mersey Railway cast-iron station spandrel lettered “MTR” (Mersey Tunnel Railway) in the angle. 32”x30” and attractively painted. The Mersey Railway opened in 1886 to operate the line from Liverpool to Birkenhead. It remained independent until nationalized in 1948.
