Frontispiece portrait, one foldout map.<BR><BR>Publisher's blue cloth covers with a central illustration in gilt on the front cover. Spine lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt. Slight abrasion to the head and foot of the spine and corners, rear hinge beginning to crack but sound, slight tear in map. Overall a very good copy. <BR><BR>United States Navy officer and geostrategist, Captain Alfred Thayer Mahan, was a strong proponent of naval power.
