Bottle of hand cream sold by A.M. Cole located at 88 South C Street. Description on the front reads “for the softening, beautifying and preserving the skin. The manufactures were J.B. Thorn, a chemist in London. And the U.S. agent was John A. Tarrant. Measures 2.75” x 2.75” x 2.” Some wear. Cole was a successful and long time druggist in Virginia City. A native of New York, Cole arrived at the Comstock in the early 1860s. He found work as a clerk for a drug store, but after only a year he was able to buy out his employer.
