A LOCOMOTIVE PLAQUE "Indian Government Railways 8350 W.G. Festival Of Britain. North British Locomotive Co. Ltd Glasgow". The Festival of Britain 1951 motif is displayed in the centre. This plaque was clearly made for the standard gauge 2-8-2 built by North British as Works No. 26464 in 1950 and put on display at the Festival of Britain. A standard post-war design for heavy mixed traffic, 100 were built by NBL in 1950 and 1951. 8350 eventually went to India in November 1951. Oval cast aluminium, 16 1/2"x12". This plate has no fixing holes so was clearly not attached to the locomotive. It may have been a presentation or display piece.
