A LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH-CENTURY JAPANESE HARDWOOD TWO-STAGE PORTABLE (POSSIBLY MILITARY) CABINET-ON-CHEST, the upper stage having two pairs of sliding doors, the gilt panels having fruit decoration and a signature with red square, 'seal'mark, each enclosing a shelf, cupboard and drawers, above a long central drawer flanked by two shorter drawers, all with brass bale handles, the sides with iron carrying handles, above two separate columns of drawers, one with five long drawers, the other three long above two short and two medium drawers, all with brass bale handles, cloud-form escutcheons with swivelling covers, and locks stamped DYAJIMA & HIYIRO, also with iron carrying handles, on Est. £600/1000
