A LARGE TRANS-CAUCASIAN 'QAMA' DAGGER WITH INLAY, 19TH C.
This large 'qama' dagger is inlaid with silver in various spots across its quadruple-fullered blade. The silver inlay is faded, but you can still read the Arabic inscriptions near to the hilt and see the decoration that adorns the tip. The handle is of horn, and is adorned with cylindrical iron studs which affix the grip scales to the tang.
The scabbard is wrapped with stitched black leather which has cracked suffered minor losses due to age. There are several brass bands along the scabbard which have been embossed with floral decoration, while the chape, also of brass, has simple embossed lines. Some of the brass fixtures may have been restored.

L: 24.75 in. (62.87 cm.);

The blade is pitted but the original inlay is still present on the forte and towards the tip of the blade. The horn grip appears to be in good condition with a small chip.
