A.J. RUSSELL CIVIL WAR RAILROAD PHOTOGRAPHS. Lot of 4, albumen images each 12.5 x 9.25" mounted on larger boards. Each represents a different perspective, or bird's-eye view, of the Union railroad yard at Alexandria, Virginia, three probably taken from the top of the roundhouse, one from the second floor of a track-side building. Includes: "Alexandria Yard Looking West. Mar. 1863; Alexandria Yard Looking W and SW, June 1863; View from the Roundhouse (see Russell's Civil War Photographs 1982:107); and a view of the station house. None with Russell's blindstamp, but clearly his work. A dramatic series showing the major Virginia hub of the USMRR and the Orange and Alexandria RR. EXC, all with deep, rich tonality, one very slightly toned, two with minor smudges on prints.PLEASE NOTE: THIS LOT WILL BE SOLD ON EBAY LIVE AUCTIONS BETWEEN 5:00-6:00pm EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME ON MAY 10, 2002.
