A.J. RUSSELL CIVIL WAR PHOTO OF FREDERICKSBURG. A.J. Russell (1830-1902). Albumen photograph 12 x 15" on larger, thin paper mount. An overview of Fredericksburg, Virginia taken from heights above the Rappahannock River with the town spread out along the river, the destroyed bridge visible at the right. Russell's blindstamp at lower right, and titled in pencil "Fredericksburg May 3, '63." At the time this negative was exposed, the Battle of Chancellorsville was raging a few miles away. EXC to MINT, print exhibits flaws in original negative, presumably the result of an uneven coating of collodion.
