Mineral and Agricultural Resources of Silver Land. Published by F. Boegle, Virginia, Nev., 1889. Green softcover. 158 pages. Dan DeQuille (William Wright) was a Western writer and author who worked for the Territorial Enterprise in Virginia City. This work was published after "A History of the Big Bonanza" as a smaller version, paper-bound guide-book to be sold on overland trains. DeQuille was approached to write this work in 1874 to chronicle the history of the Comstock Lode. Samuel Clemens also provided encouragement, even letting DeQuille stay in Hartford. By the time this edition was printed (1889), the Comstock mines were in sharp decline. An essential historical reference for Nevada mining historians and collectors. Chipping to spine and back cover detached. Toning to pages. 7" x 5"
