This is a finely constructed hardwood jewelry casket, dating to the late Qing to early Republic period. The box is reinforced with brass mounts at the corners and fitted with a pair of hinged doors above a single drawer. The front is inset with five carved pale green jade plaques, depicting auspicious motifs such as bats, ruyi scepters, and cloud patterns—symbols of good fortune, longevity, and prosperity. The brass fittings, including lock plates, hinges, and handle ornaments, are delicately tooled and serve both decorative and structural purposes. Such boxes were commonly used by women for storing jewelry and personal treasures, and often featured in bridal dowries. This piece exemplifies the fusion of utility and artistic elegance in traditional Chinese domestic furnishing
