A. H. Fox, C E grade 12 gauge SXS shotgun, 30" barrels, choked full and full; factory letter states 7-3/4 pounds, 1-5/8 drop at comb, 1-3/4" drop at heel, straight stock, non-auto safe, Lyman sights, Perkins recoilpad, thick stock (perch belly), dark curly wood, concave rib, shipped from Philadelphia, PA July 27, 1916 to Bob Smith Sporting Goods, Boston, Mass, priced at $120 in 1916, with letter signed by J. T. Callahan, armshistorian. The stock measures 13-7/8" to the end of the wood, 15-1/2" to the end of the Packmeyer pad with thick nearly 1" wood spacer. The barrels show 90-95% old professionally re-blued finish, some thinning and losses where the rib meet the top of the barrel. The frame shows 75-85% toning, original case hardening; the trigger guard shows 98% blue matching the period of the barrel. The stocks have been professionallyrefreshed, show crisp checkering and fit impeccably. The action locks tight, the bores are very good. The gun is still choked full and full.
