A Greek icon, around 1600 Saint John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople (holidays: 13th November and 27th January), a famous pulpit orator, thus being given the title Chrysostom (golden mouth), represented in the habit of an archbishop, holding the gospel in his left hand in a blessing gesture, the sakkos elaborately decorated with cross and floral motifs, the episcopal insignia resting on his knee, decorated with the blessing Infant Jesus and four cherubs, the stole with representations of the Apostles, the background decorated with gilt floral garlands. A large-size decorative picture of the famous saint (his mortal remains are buried in St. Peter's in Rome) featuring beautifully and delicately painted details, 206 x 73 cm, (P).
