<B>A Grassfield Kingdom (Cameroon)</B></I><BR>Rare Game Board<BR>Wood, nails<BR>Height: 4 ¾ inches Length: 25 inches Width: 9 ½ inches<BR><BR>Game Boards from Cameroon are uncommon. This one is embellished with eleven stylized human figures, five in very high relief along each side and one standing figure at one end (the figure that once stood beside it is missing). The heads of all figures are dramatically enlarged. The playing surface is comprised of two parallel rows of six cups.<BR><BR>Used for the common "capture" games of varied names that use seeds or small stones as counters.<BR><BR>There is a band of moderate insect loss down the center of the bottom. Some feet and hands of the side figures have small amounts missing, and last figure toward the flat end in the proper left has the entire lower body missing. The proper left full figure is missing, and the proper right arm of the surviving figure is missing. The outer rims of the cups at the blank end have losses, and there are minor chips and cracks throughout.<BR><BR>Provenance: H.
