This is the statue of napoleon's sister, Pauline Bonaparte, the wife of prince Borghese therefore the name. The original statue was modeled by Antonio Canova. Pauline was the favorite sibling of her elder brother napoleon, twice the emperor of France. Unlike many of her family, Pauline Bonaparte developed a reputation independently of her brother, creating a life-story which reads more like a novel, rather than a history. bronze figure of woman, nude from waist up, reclining on a divan, holding an apple in her left hand, leaning her head on her right hand.
