A German State Railways SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE “38.3487”. As carried by a standard gauge 4-6-0 built for the Prussian State Railways as Class “P8”. A mixed traffic design widely used, 2350 were built 1906-1924 by several German builders. Some survived into the 1960’s, and a number are preserved. A steel backplate with polished numerals, 27½”x8”, face-restored and mounted on a wooden back-plate.
