A George III mahogany longcase clock having a swans neck pediment with punched thistle terminals above the square glazed door with brass knob handle enclosing the 14ins. square painted dial and eight day striking movement by Stephen Simpson, Preston with Roman numerals and with subsidiary date and second hand with shell painted spandrels and flanked on either side by reeded columns with brass capitals in turn above a mahogany banded collar with shaped trunk door with applied moulded edge flanked by reeded quarter column corners with moulding beneath, the base being boxwood and ebony strung with well figured centre panel with canted corners and raised on bracket feet.
