A Genealogical Tree. Charming and delig
A Genealogical Tree. Charming and delightful oversize lithograph, "A Genealogical Tree showing the descendants of William Haskell, of Gloucester, Mass." Privately printed in 1880 by William O. Haskell, Jr., and published by William O. Haskell (Sr.), Mason, N.H. 22 x 28. Depicting a massive tree, its limbs, branches, subbranches, and twigs bearing names and dates of the vast number of descendants of William Haskell, born in England in 1617, settled in Beverly, Mass. in 1632, then removed to Gloucester. Very large number of colonial descendants, many with quaint names such as Experience, Deliverance, Providence, Thankful, and Patience; the latest member of the family appears to be 1869. Absolutely riveting, graphically, as an exemplar of scholarship, and for the sheer size of this family. Some tea-colored stains across top and right margins, affecting no live matter, several internal tears at top blank area, else very good. Quintessential Americana, at home on any wall.
