A GWR brass CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE "4097". As carried by the GWR '4073 Castle' class 4-6-0 "KENILWORTH CASTLE" built at Swindon in June 1926 under Lot 234 at a cost of £5,676 plus another £1,163 for the tender. Initially allocated to Old Oak Common, she moved to Worcester and Caernarvon in 1929; Cardiff Canton in 1931; Bath Road in 1934; Laira in 1936; Newton Abbot in 1939; Penzance in 1946; Old Oak Common in 1951; and finally Landore in 1957 (a double chimney was fitted in June 1958) from where she was withdrawn on 6th May 1960 after running 1,713,996 miles in service. She was cut up at Swindon by 18th June 1960. The plate is face-restored only. Kenilworth Castle, in Warwickshire, is now a stately ruin.
