A GWR brass CABSIDE NUMBERPLATE “2879”. As carried by the 2800 Class 2-8-0 built at Swindon as Works No. 2785 in March 1919 under Lot 210 at a cost of £4,992 plus £956 for the tender. Initially allocated to Severn Tunnel Junction, she moved to Oxley in 1924; Old Oak Common in 1927; Newport Ebbw in 1937; St Philips Marsh in 1952; Swindon in 1955 and finally Reading in 1963 from where she was withdrawn on 10th August 1964 to be cut up by John Cashmore Ltd, Town Quay, Newport (Mon). The plate is face-restored only with rim stampings clear.
