A rare set, comprising a burgonet, gorget and pair of spaulders. The burgonet forged in one piece, with pronounced comb roped along the border, and separately applied peak, neck and ear plates, all with rolled borders. The gorget wrought with a central ridge and two neck-lames. The spaulders made up of six plates with central ridge on sliding rivets, the lowest with roped border en suite with the helmet and gorget. All pieces with blackened finish overall. Last quarter of the 16th century. Wear and losses to leather straps. The helmet 34 cm in height. Acquired at Hermann Historica Munich in Oct. 9, 2008, Sale 56, Lot 520.
