<B>A Fine French Louis XVI Mahogany Commode</B></I><BR><BR>Joseph Feuerstein, Paris, France<BR>Circa 1780-1790<BR>Mahogany veneer on oak carcass, gilt bronze, marble<BR>Marks: stamped <I>....STEIN</B></I><BR>34.25 inches high x 59 inches wide x 25.25 inches deep<BR><BR>Based on a model by Guillaume Benneman, with three drawers, the top drawer with inset gilt bronze stop fluted decoration, the lower two with inset gilt bronze banding and bail handles with beaded roundel centers and laurel wreath escutcheons, flanked by tapered columns wrapped with gilt bronze floral motif with gilt bronze base and capital, swag mounts at upper corners the sides with inset gilt bronze stop fluting above inset gilt bronze banded panels; raised on toupee feet with beaded band and cast sabot; shaped white marble top. <B>Condition Report:</B> Normal signs of wear as appropriate with age. Cracking to side. One bail handle missing.
