Grant, Michael. FROM IMPERIUM TO AUCTORITAS: A HISTORICAL STUDY OF AES COINAGE IN THE ROMAN EMPIRE, 49 B.C.-A.D. 14. Cambridge, 1946. First edition. 4to, original blue-green cloth, gilt; jacket. xvii, (1), 510 pages; 12 fine plates. Very minor corner bump; fine. A fine copy of the rare original edition, with superior coin plates. The reprints are so ubiquitous that one forgets how rarely the original is seen. The Kreindler library didn’t have one, and this is the first copy we’ve offered for five years or so. Kroh 62: “covers a lot of ground that is all but virtually ignored by other references. Its analysis of the Late-Republican and Early-Empire provincial coinage is very detailed.” Ex RBW Library.
