A Fine, Early & Large Cheyenne Beaded Doll 19th C.
An astounding fully Indian hide beaded large doll in fine form from the Cheyenne of the 19th Century from a private Santa Fe collection. The doll is of an impressive, large size and exhibits an Indian tanned hide body, sinew sewn and covered in Indian tanned hide clothing that is adorned with 19th Century period glass trade seed bead beadwork. The doll shows beaded facial features with a border of beadwork, all sinew sewn and the back of the head having a parfleche hair on rawhide section. The doll shows Indian tanned hide dress with beaded belt with remnants of yellow ocher. The doll shows early original glass trade seed beads in colors of greasy light blue, greasy yellow, sky padre light blue, red white heart, cobalt, chalk white. The bottom shows high-top moccasins fully beaded with a typical Buffalo Track pattern. The dress shows some slight soiling on the front bottom half, but mainly is supple. Provenance: From a private Santa Fe, New Mexico collection. Measures overall 18.50-inches high by 8-inches wide.
