A FINE GANDHARAN WINGED SCHIST CORBEL c.1-2nd Century AD, of exceptional museum quality, the complete green schist corbel of fine detail, sculpted in the form of a male deity engaged in prayer, dressed in flowing robes, adorned with earrings, bracelets, a necklace and turban, consistent even weathering throughout, Swat Valley, Pakistan, 20x15cm. Provenance: From an Australian collection Note: Dating from the end of the Partheon period this sculpture is most likely from the Gandharan capital and centre of learning at Taxila or possibly Butkara.
