Borneo, ca. 1950. From the Dayak people of Borneo this bamboo quiver has a delicate and expressively carved handle depicting a jaguar with a boar in it's mouth on one end and a snake head on the other. The end of the lid displays 2 tufts of hair, possibly boar, and 3 teeth (1 missing), possibly dog, set in gum, wax or resin. A boars tooth attached with fiber chord acts as a counterweight to hold the lid in place. Includes 7 darts tipped with a dark brown substance (pictured) and a blow gun (not pictured). Blow gun is carved of a solid dark wood with a hand forged lance head on one end (picture on request). Some loss to the rafia wrapping on the quiver. Overall good condition. 17” x 3-3/4” x 1-3/4”.

This lot will be sold not subject to a reserve. The starting price is the price at which the item can sell.
