A DIVISION ONE BLACK GLASS BUTTON
1 large 19th century "Passamentrie" glued and riveted example. These delicate and fine buttons used to be called "Passamentrie" work by button collectors, but many years ago that was revised to glued and riveted. Each shape and piece of black glass is glued and or riveted to the pierced metal base. Very often these buttons are found missing or have broken pieces. This example is in pristine condition, a somewhat rarity for these type buttons. This is a button and not a trim , as you can see by the thicker shank on the back.
