A Cowboy Hat from The Comancheros and Possibly True Grit. ... (Total: 1 Items)
A Cowboy Hat from "The Comancheros" and Possibly "True Grit." 20th Century Fox, 1961; Paramount, 1969. Made of black felt, brown leather braid and twine hatband, inside stamped "W.C.C. 82 T" [Western Costume Company]; worn as Wayne portrayed "Ranger Captain Jake Cutter" in the film directed by Michael Curtiz and co-starring Lee Marvin and Patrick Wayne. According to Luster Bayless [Wayne's longtime costumer] in the 1996 book, "Duke, We're Glad We Knew You," by Herb Fagen, Wayne's "hat [from "True Grit"] was the same one he used in "The Comancheros" and "The Alamo." We just changed the block around." (Please note this hat is dusty and shows signs of wear.)The current hatband on this hat seems to be the one from "True Grit" but minus a ribbon.
