West Mexico, Ca 200 BC/200 AD. Large and fine redware pottery vessel having a very pronounced, tight body ribbing, standing on highly defined bird-form tripod legs. Painted red surface with areas of scattered root marks and numerous manganese blooms. Larger and finer than most! Approximately half of lip/rim re-assembled from four pieces without fill. The hairline cracks associated with this reassembly are visible in the close-up photo of the rim.

Provenance: Ex-private CA collection acquired in the 1960s.
