Chippendale Furniture has long been the choice of people who admire and collect beautiful antiques pieces of furniture for their home.
Following training Thomas Chippendale was a furniture maker on his own and opened his a shop in London in 1853. Surviving furniture actually made by Chippendale is rare indeed. The wealthy class indeed began to search out well-constructed furniture in the Chippendale Style.
Offered here is a Chippendale style side chair of the 19th century handcrafted of Mahogany. It has a triple arched crest rail with pierced scroll plat and a pierced quatrafoil at the bottom. There is a trapezoidal drop-in seat with carved convex edge on three sides. There are simple rectangular legs and a shaped stretcher. The seat is upholstered in silk twill and made lovely by a flower basket of crewel embroidery. However, it must be noted that the treasured seat is water stained by a broken water pipe. The seat also shows other signs of wear. The chair is constructed with pegs overall, without corner blocks. I believe once it's yours, you'll love it.
37 x 21 x 18"
