A Chien Lung punch bowl with the arms of Campbell, Duke of Argyll, opposing a pastoral scene with figures, and internally decorated with the boars head crest and motto 'Ne Obliviscaris', chain border, c.1770, 10.25ins. Made for John Campbell, 5th Duke of Argyle, Field Marshall and M.P for Glasgow 1744-61 and Dover 1765-6, created Lord Sundridge (Q2, p.963) Possibly the bowl illustrated in Howard and sold in the Crisp Sale in 1923 for 1 and a half guineas.
