<B>A Charles Rennie Mackintosh Easel</B></I><BR>Glasgow, c.1900<BR><BR>The very rare and important studio easel of white oak, reputed to be the former property of the Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow Scotland, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh b. 1868-1928, his first commission, 1897, and most important building, completed 1909, shows accumulated paint from use over an extended period of time, original adjustment pins on chains in evidence, the easel extends to a height of 128.5 inches, marked to the reverse <I>R/25</B></I><BR>75in high x 25.5in deep x 32.7in wide to the base1 Items <BR><BR><B>Condition Report:</B> Extensive overall wear due to use. Two vertical guides appear to be a period replacement of fir-wood. One horizontal element of the trestle support and one diagonal brace to trestle appear to be more contemporary fir-wood replacements <BR>
