Pre-Columbian, from the north coast of Peru, Chancay culture, ca. 900 - 1400 AD. Tall, white-slipped ceramic vessel with raised detailing of a long-necked pelican / water bird accented in typical dark brown/black pigment (on both sides); with twin handles and ovoid bottom. Just under 16"H. Intact/generally excellent, save minor rim chipping and small probe hole.

Provenance: Ex-private collection of Collot d'Escury acquired in Peru prior in the mid-1960s.
